How is the economy, really? We are seeing rising prices at the grocery store and gas pump, hearing varying predictions about the actual price tag of the proposed Build Back Better plan, and the new omicron variant threatens to prolong the COVID-19 pandemic and throw financial markets into uncertainty. What is happening… and why?

Dr. Timothy G. NashThis virtual Issues & Answers with Dr. Tim Nash of Northwood University will provide insight that you just won’t get anywhere else. Dr. Nash is Director of The McNair Center for the Advancement of Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, at Northwood University.

Dr. Nash has served in various capacities with Northwood University. His travels and research have taken him to over 30 countries from China and Mexico to Poland and Switzerland where he has also participated in academic colloquiums. Dr. Nash has also served as adjunct scholar with the Mackinac Center for Public Policy in Midland, adjunct scholar with the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) in Washington, D.C., and is the former State Director of Economic Education for the clergy for the State of Michigan. Dr. Nash has co-authored four books including When We Are Free (with foreword by Dr. Milton Friedman) and In Defense of Capitalism (co-authored with Dr. Richard M. Ebeling, and Dr. Keith A. Pretty). He and his colleagues have conducted research and consulting for a number of Fortune 500 companies and their industry associations including GM/UAW/PEL, the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), Auto Care Association (ACA), the Michigan Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Chrysler, and Dow Corning Corporation. Dr. Nash has researched and published Northwood’s Annual Economic Forecast, Northwood’s Monthly Economic Outlook, Auto Care Association’s monthly Industry Indicator’s Report as well as its monthly Business and Economic Confidence Indexes which are done in conjunction with Northwood. He has led a team of economists from across the country to produce the highly regarded Michigan Economic Competitiveness Report which annually compares Michigan to 49 other states on economic competitiveness.
