Renue Physical Therapy to host free weekly Parkinson’s Exercise Classes at Greater Midland Community Center

Renue Physical Therapy in partnership with Greater Midland Community Center (GMCC) will offer twice weekly Parkinson’s Exercise Classes beginning Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Abbi Brady, PT, DPT will host the free classes Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00am in the Barstow Shipps Room at GMCC. Dr. Brady is a PWR! Parkinson Wellness Recovery, Moves Certified Therapist. PWR! Is a program specifically designed to benefit people with Parkinson’s Disease.

“I’m really looking forward to kicking off these fun and functional classes in Midland,” said Brady. “I’ve developed a passion for working with people who have Parkinson’s Disease, and studies have shown how beneficial exercise can be for this population. I’m so proud to be able to offer these classes to help people slow the progression of the disease and maintain their independence as long as possible.”

Consistent exercise is important for everyone, but can be especially beneficial to people with Parkinson’s Disease. According to the Parkinson’s Outcomes Project, the largest clinical study of Parkinson’s Disease through the Centers of Excellence network, increasing physical activity to at least 2.5 hours a week can slow decline in quality of life. Regular exercise can help improve motor symptoms, reduce depression and fatigue, lower risk of falls and more.

RSVPs for the classes are welcome, but not required. To RSVP, please visit www.renuept.com/rsvp.
