The Midland Area Farmers Market is looking for an intern for the 2025 Market Season! Ideal Candidates will have knowledge or willingness to learn and use Canva, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok as well as a willingness to learn how Midland Area Farmers Market makes a difference in the community. Past interns have gone on to positions at Dow, Meridian Public Schools and Grey Advertising, to name a few.
The Midland Area Farmers Market is operated by the Midland Business Alliance. The Midland Area Farmers Market is a seasonal, outdoor, Farmers Market operational every Saturday and Wednesday from May 3-October 29, 2025, and the first 3 Saturdays of November. An ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic advocate of the local food movement, Michigan agriculture and event planning and coordination.
The intern position works directly with both Manager and Director of the Midland Area Farmers Market.

- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people
- Ability to complete assigned tasks and projects independently with minimal oversight
- Ability to lift 50#
- Able to work in a team environs and contribute to goals of the Market
- Ability to handle a flexible work schedule based on workload
Market Operations
- arrive 1.5 hours prior to start of Market daily
- set up tables, tents and signage
- place directional signage
- assist with coordination of vendor parking and set-up
General Market Support
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with Market Director, Market Manager, vendors, Market Goers and Community members
- Provide Market-related information, conflict resolution and general aid as appropriate
- Assist in enforcing Market Rules
- Assist vendors by providing personal breaks or with sales at exceptionally busy times
Outreach and Marketing
- Works alongside Market staff and MBA Marketing Team to promote Market through social media platforms
- Contribute to social media communications
- Provide thorough, thoughtful and correct information to the public
- Assist with development, coordination, and digital marketing of special events
Desired Skills (Not Required):
- Multilingual (spoken and/or American Sign Language)
- Prior event planning experience/knowledge
- Willingness to be part of an active and innovative team
- Social media content in a team environment
