Job Function: The Therapist provides individual/group counseling services, crisis response and intervention, and participates in collection and evaluation of outcomes according to industry best standards, quality assurance, and the Agency Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan. Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provides short-term individual and/or group counseling to non-residential individuals, families, and groups who have been impacted by domestic or sexual violence. 2. Responds to crisis/Helpline calls. 3. Participates in weekly clinical group meetings and joint counseling/advocate meetings. 4. Develops curriculum and oversees non-residential support/therapy groups, as assigned. 5. Provides support to the Prevention and Outreach Coordinator designing community and educational programs. 6. Assists with collection and evaluation of client and program outcomes for the Agency. 7. Represents Shelterhouse as a voice for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors through active engagement with community partners and groups through membership, presentations, training, and tours. 8. Acts as liaison and/or advocate with other mental health organizations, legal, social, welfare, law enforcement, and medical agencies on behalf of resident individual and/or families, as needed. 9. Abides by policies and procedures set forth by the Agency. 10. Meets client service expectation per Agency standards. 11. Maintains confidential, accurate, and timely client records and program documentation. 12. Maintains current and unrestricted licensure in the State of Michigan. 13. Completes special projects and other duties as assigned. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to Perform the Job: · Strong verbal and written communication · Strong ability to speak publicly · Strong organizational skills and attention to detail · Comfort in conversing with children and adults on healthy, sexually appropriate to age topics · Advanced knowledge of working with diverse populations including, families and groups · Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trauma dynamics · Ability to provide crisis intervention · Ability to think critically, problem solve, and manage multiple priorities · Excellent computer skills · Ability to maintain confidence and protect operations by keeping all information confidential · Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and volunteers · Competency to maintain professional and technical knowledge attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and/or participating in professional societies. · Ability to contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks, as needed. Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or social work and current licensure in the State of Michigan. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, valid driver’s license, proof of valid/current auto insurance, and reliable transportation. Must pass pre-employment and annual screenings and background checks. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with individuals, families, and groups and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and/or trauma. Experience working with people in crisis.
