Chippewa Nature Center Offering Paddling Trips Now-October
 
Chippewa Nature Center (CNC) is offering naturalist-led kayak and Voyageur canoe trips now through October. Participants will use a CNC-provided boat, paddle and personal flotation device (PFD), and may register online at www.chippewanaturecenter.org, by phone at 989.631.0830 or in person at CNC at 400 S Badour Rd in Midland. Participants must be age 15+, under 18 with adult. No experience is necessary. If weather or water conditions are unfavorable, the trip will be cancelled at CNC’s discretion and participants will receive a refund.

Join a CNC naturalist for a relaxing 3-mile paddle from CNC’s launch on Homestead Road down the Chippewa River to the Tridge in Downtown Midland. leisurely kayak trip down the river. This trip is an easy way to relieve pressures of the week and learn about the natural and cultural history found along the way!





 
Upper Chippewa River Kayak

Spend an evening paddling down the Chippewa River with a naturalist as you look for turtles, fish, herons, hawks and eagles. After meeting at the Visitor Center, we’ll travel to the Universal Access Site via CNC van and begin a leisurely paddle down river back to the Nature Center.







Saginaw Bay by Voyageur Canoe

Join naturalist Tom Lenon for an exciting adventure as we paddle the Saginaw Bay in a 29-foot Voyageur canoe. The canoe is a fiberglass reproduction of the birch bark canoes used by voyageurs to haul loads of trade goods and valuable animal pelts in the 18th and 19th centuries. We’ll explore the cattail marshes and look for birds and other wildlife. Transportation from CNC is provided.








Members-Only Voyageur Canoe Trip

Enjoy a leisurely autumn kayak trip down the Chippewa River when fall color will (hopefully) be at its peak! We will travel by CNC van to the Universal Access launch, ending our paddle back at CNC.
