Shannone Dunlap Elected Chair of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Board of Directors

Black Diamond Broadcasting’s Director of Business Development to Lead 23-Member Board.

Shannone Dunlap, Director of Business Development for Black Diamond Broadcast Group in Central and Northern Michigan, was elected Chair of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) Board of Directors during the organization’s Annual Business Meeting on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

"Celebrating 75 years at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island was a dazzling reminder of the legacy the MAB has built and the bright future we have ahead. And while the week was well spent meeting new faces and remembering our past, my takeaway from conversations and conferences is this — we have work to do. I am grateful for the direction of our board, from outgoing chair Debbie Petersmark whose tremendous leadership has brought us to today. And, I look forward to digging in with the new board for the year ahead and working alongside the bold leadership of our new chair, Shannone Dunlap," MAB President/CEO, Casey Jones said. "Together, we will meet the challenges ahead with the same passion and dedication that have guided us for 75 years. And 75 years from now, the MAB will be celebrating the work we do together, today."
Dunlap is the 79th chair of the MAB, one of the largest and most successful state broadcast associations in the nation which represents more than 300 radio and television stations and more than 3,000 individual broadcasting industry employees across the state of Michigan.

"Our local, state & federal political representatives can be and should be our BIGGEST advocates," said Dunlap. "In short, we need them. We need them to think of us first, engage with us first and value local broadcasters as the primary way to reach their constituents. We also need to tell our story to the masses for our industry, local radio and local television stories! Focus on trust and credibility- staying relative & engaged with our communities old & young. Be where they are, including non-viewers and non-listeners alike. Embracing new strategies that leverage our strengths and be thought of first in our local communities. Together our voices are louder, let's tell our stories loud & proud, together!"
