Event Description:
Dr. Veronica Hicks Ph.D. will be a visiting artist at Saginaw Valley State University from February 4–6, 2025. Dr. Hicks is Assistant Professor Licensure Coordinator in the Department of Art Education at the Virginia Commonwealth University. During her stay, she will facilitate a Cyanotype Fabric Printing Workshop, present a lecture, model a lesson plan with education students, and meet with university students and faculty. As a Dow Visiting Scholar & Artist, Dr. Hicks will shape her programming around the exhibition David C. Driskell & Friends: Creativity, Collaboration & Friendship, on view at the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum on campus at SVSU through February 22. Dr. Hicks will present a lecture in the Museum on Wednesday, February 5 at 6:00pm titled, “Realizing Davis Driskell’s Vision: The Role of African American Art in Shaping Our Collective Future.”

The Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum is located on the campus of Saginaw Valley State University, 7400 Bay Road, University Center, Michigan.
